Monthly Mini October 2023:
This month's pattern in the monthly mini series features a spooky (but not to spooky) crocheted ghost! This project took me about 40 minutes to work up with DIY Glow Yarn by Lion Brand in color Natural. If you place these little ghosts in sunlight for a few minutes, they will glow. See the photos!

Ghost Body:
Using the E hook and white yarn, the ghost body will be worked in continuous rounds.
Round 1: 8 SC in MR. (8 SC made)
Round 2: (1 INC in next ST, 1 SC in next ST) Repeat around. (12 SC made)
Round 3: (1 INC in next ST, 1 SC in next ST) Repeat around. (18 SC made)
Round 4: (1 SC in next 5 STS, 1 INC in next ST) Repeat around. (21 SC made)
Rounds 5-12: 1 SC in each ST around. (21 SC made, each round)
Round 13: Work the following sequence in the FLO of each stitch of Round 13. (1 SL ST next ST, SC HDC SC in next ST, SL ST next ST) Repeat around ending with a SL ST in the final ST of the round. Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.
Face Instructions:
Place 7mm eyes 2 STS apart between Rounds 6 and 7. I recommend waiting to attach the washer to the back of each safety eye until after you have completed sewing on all details of the face. Using either a yarn needle or an embroidery needle and the black embroidery thread sew eye brows just above each eye (see photos below for reference). You may also sew a mouth if you would like, one round below and centered between the eyes. Finally, using the yarn color of your choice place an accent stitch under each eye. Once you have secured the ends inside of the ghost body and you are satisfied with all details of the face, place the washers on the eyes.
Arms (make 2):
Using the E hook and white yarn, the arms will be worked in continuous rounds.
Round 1: 6 SC in MR. (6 SC made)
Rounds 2-3: 1 SC in each ST around. Fasten off, leaving a tail of yarn for sewing. (6 SC made each round)
Ghost Bottom:
Using the E hook and white yarn, the bottom will be worked in continuous rounds.
Round 1: 7 SC in MR. (7 SC made)
Round 2: 1 INC in each ST around. (14 SC made)
Round 3: (1 SC in next ST, 1 INC next ST) Repeat around. (21 SC made)
Assembly:
- Begin by gently stuffing the ghost body with fiber fill. Once stuffed, pin each arm to the side of the body. I place mine one round below the eyes (see photo for reference), sew in place. Secure yarn end by weaving through body and trim away excess.
- Once the arms are secured in place attach the ghost bottom. Using the tail of yarn left for sewing on the ghost bottom, thread the yarn needle and secure in place by whip stitching (passing the needle back and forth) through Round 3 of the bottom piece and the BLO of Round 13 of the body all the way around. Secure the end by passing the tail through the body and trim away the excess.
Thanks for stitching along with me. I hope you enjoyed making the mini ghost with me!
