Bunny & Chick Body:

Begin with the E hook and desired color of yarn. The bunny and/or chick will be worked in continuous rounds. Round 1 will be the top of the bunny/chick.

Round 1: 6 SC in MR. (6 SC made)

Round 2: (1 INC in each SC around). (12 SC made)

Round 3: (1 SC in next ST, 1 INC next ST). Repeat around.  (18 SC made)

Round 4: (1 SC in next 5 STS, 1 INC next ST) Repeat around. (21 SC made)

Rounds 5-8: 1 SC in each ST around. (21 SC made, each round)

Round 9: (1 SC in next 5 STS, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. (18 SC made)

Round 10: (1 SC in next ST, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. (12 SC made)

Sew on face details now. Place the eyes 3 STS apart between Rounds 5 and 6. If you are making the bunny, use pink embroidery thread to sew on a nose between the eyes in a “T” shape.

If you are making the chick, use orange embroidery thread to sew a nose by making a “——“ shape between the eyes. Then, sew on 2 “V” shapes between Rounds 7 and 9, aligned beneath each eye to create the feet.

Round 11: (1 SC in next 2 STS, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. (9 SC made)

Stuff the body now.

Round 12: (1 SC next ST, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. (6 SC made) Fasten off, leaving a long tail of yarn for sewing.

Sew the body of the bunny/chick closed by whip stitching in and out of the front loops of Round 12. Once you have passed the threaded needle back and forth through the front loops all the way around, pull the yarn gently to cinch the body closed. Pass the needle through the body to secure the yarn tail and trim away the excess yarn tail. If you are making the bunny, proceed to the instructions for the ears now. If you are making the chick then you will begin to make the “feathers” on the top of the head.  Cut 2 pieces of yarn (the same color as the body) approximately 3 inches in length. Place your hook under a stitch on the “top” of the head. Pull the yarn pieces, from the center through the stitch to create 2 loops. Pull the ends of the yarn through the loops and tighten. Cut the yarn down to the desired length. Separate the strands of yarn with the yarn needle. Finished!

Bunny Ear (make 2):

Using the E hook and desired color of yarn. The bunny’s ears will be worked in continuous rounds. You will not stuff the ears.

Round 1: 6 SC in MR. (6 SC made)

Round 2: (1 SC in next 2 STS, 1 INC next ST) Repeat around. (8 SC made)

Rounds 3-5: 1 SC in each ST around. (8 SC made, each round)

Round 6: (1 SC in next 2 STS, 1 DEC next ST) Repeat around. (6 SC made)

Round 7: 1 SC in each ST around. (6 SC made) Fasten off, leaving a tail of yarn for sewing.

Thread the yarn needle with the tail of yarn left for sewing. Sew the bottom of the ear closed. Attach each ear to the top of the bunny’s head. I place one ear on each side of the center of the magic ring, having the ears touch in the center (see photo). When attached, I place a small amount of make-up blush inside each ear and just under each eye. Finished!
