Grace Beanie Crochet Pattern

Hello friends & makers! I hope you will enjoy this free beanie pattern. 

SKILL LEVEL: 

 Easy

Materials:

  • Yarn, Medium Weight 4 (Desired Color)
  • U.S. Size G/4.0mm & J/6.00mm Crochet Hooks
  • Stitch Marker
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Pom-Pom

 ABBREVIATIONS:

BLO = Back Loop Only 

CH  = Chain

HDC = Half-Double Crochet

SC= Single Crochet

SC2TOG = Single Crochet 2 Together Decrease

SL ST = Slip Stitch

ST(S) = Stitches

*SC2TOG Explanation: 

Insert the hook into the 1st CH 2 space and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 2 loops on the hook. Insert the hook into the next CH 2 space and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over again and pull the loop of working yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.

Grace Beanie Crochet Pattern 

Brim of Hat: 

G Hook & Desired color of yarn. Note: CH 2 to turn will not count in ST count. 

CH 10

Row 1: 1 HDC in 2nd CH from Hook and in each CH to end of Row. CH 2, turn. (9 HDC)

Row 2: 1 HDC BLO next 9 STS. CH 2, turn. 

Repeat Row 2 until the brim of your hat is 19.25” inches long (for adult small/medium). 

Join ends of brim and sew together. Once joined, flip so that the sewn side will be on the inside.       

Hat Body: 

With J Hook & Desired color of yarn. You will be working in continuous rounds after Round 1. CH 1 when you rejoin yarn will not count in ST count.

Rejoin your yarn and CH1. 

Round 1: Work 56 SC evenly around top of brim. Join with SL ST to first SC of Round. 

 Round 2: CH 3. SC back into same ST (Place a ST Marker in CH 3 space). SK next ST. **SC CH 2 Sc next ST, SK next ST. Repeat from ** back to ST marker.         

**In the beginning of each Round replace your ST marker in the 1st CH 2 space. 

 Round 3: SC CH 2 Sc in CH 2 space from Round 2. Repeat around.  

Repeat Round 3 until your hat measures 7.5 inches from brim to top. (approximately 15 Rounds)

Final Row: SC2TOG decrease in CH 2 space around. 

To Close Top of Hat: 

Whip ST in and out of the last Round of your hat, pull your working yarn tightly to tighten/close. Weave in ends on the inside of the hat.

Add a Pom-Pom to top of hat.
