Special Stitch: Sc2tog

Insert hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull through.
Insert hook into the following stitch and yarn over. Pull through.
Yarn over and pull through all loops on hook.

Pattern Instructions

Leaves (Make 5)

Using green yarn and E hook.

Tip: Your leaves should be worked right-side out for the best shape. The starting yarn tail should remain inside the piece.

Round 1

Ch 2.
Work 3 Sc into the 2nd Ch from hook.

Round 2

Inc in each stitch around. (6 Sc)

Round 3

(1 Sc in next stitch, Inc in next stitch) repeat around. (9 Sc)

Rounds 4–7

Sc in each stitch around. (9 Sc each round)

Round 8

(1 Sc in next stitch, Sc2tog over next 2 stitches) repeat around. (6 Sc)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Center Flower Piece

Round 1

Work 5 Sc into MR.

Round 2

Sl St into next stitch. Ch 2.
Work 2 Dc into same stitch. Ch 2.
Sl St into same stitch.

Repeat around to create 5 petals total.

Fasten off, leaving tail for sewing.

Soil Ring

Using brown yarn and E hook.

Place stitch marker in first stitch of each round.

Note: Ch 1 at beginning of rounds does NOT count as a stitch.

Round 1

6 Sc in MR. Join with Sl St to first Sc. Ch 1.

Round 2

Inc in each stitch around. Join. Ch 1. (12 Sc)

Round 3

(1 Sc, Inc) repeat around. Join. Ch 1. (18 Sc)

Round 4

(2 Sc, Inc) repeat around. Join. Ch 1. (24 Sc)

Round 5

(3 Sc, Inc) repeat around. Join. Ch 1. (30 Sc)

Round 6

(4 Sc, Inc) repeat around. Join. (36 Sc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attaching the Plant

Step 1: Attach Leaves

Sew the bottom of each leaf closed slightly and attach evenly around the outer edge of the soil ring.

Step 2: Attach Flower Center

Sew the flower center into the middle of the leaves and secure on the underside of the soil ring.

Optional Decorative Detail

Cut two short strands of purple or yellow yarn approximately 3 inches long. Thread through the center of the plant and knot securely. Trim to desired length and gently separate yarn strands for a soft floral effect.

Pot Pattern

Using desired pot color and E hook.

Optional Color Blocking:
For a two-tone pot, begin with bottom color and switch to second color at Round 10.

Place stitch marker in first stitch of each round.

Round 1

6 Sc in MR. Join with Sl St.

Round 2

Inc in each stitch around. (12 Sc)

Round 3

(1 Sc, Inc) repeat around. (18 Sc)

Round 4

(2 Sc, Inc) repeat around. (24 Sc)

Round 5

(3 Sc, Inc) repeat around. (30 Sc)

Round 6

(4 Sc, Inc) repeat around. (36 Sc)

Round 7

Sc in BLO around. Join with Sl St and Ch 1. (36 Sc)

Rounds 8–12

Sc in each stitch around. Join with Sl St and Ch 1 after each round. (36 Sc each round)

Round 13

Sl St in each stitch around. (36 Sl St)

Fasten off.

Optional Pot Face

Place 8 mm safety eyes 5 stitches apart between Rows 9 and 10.

Using black embroidery thread:

  • Stitch a small “V” shaped mouth between the eyes
  • Add eyelashes or extra facial details if desired

Use blush lightly beneath outer corners of the eyes for a soft rosy look.

Finishing & Assembly

Lightly stuff the pot with fiber fill until it holds its shape.

Place the completed soil ring and plant into the top opening of the pot.

Using matching yarn and a finishing needle, whip stitch the soil ring to the inside of the pot around Round 11.

Optional: Add decorative pebbles on top of the soil ring for a realistic finish.
