Monthly Mini November 2023:
This month's pattern in the monthly mini series features an apple. This project took me about 20 minutes to work up. This little apple is cute all on its own or you could make several to fill a small basket or maybe use as place settings this Thanksgiving. Lots of possibilities!

Apple:
Using the E hook and desired color of yarn, the apple will be worked in continuous rounds.
Round 1: 6 SC in MR. (6 SC made)
Round 2: 1 INC in each ST around. (12 SC made)
Round 3: (1SC in next ST, 1 INC in next ST) Repeat around. (18 SC made)
Round 4: 1 SC in each ST around. (18 SC made)
Round 5: (1 SC in next 5 STS, 1 INC next ST) Repeat around. (21 SC made)
Round 6: (1 SC in next 6 STS, 1 INC next ST) Repeat around. (24 SC made)
Round 7: 1 SC in each ST around. (24 SC made)
Round 8: (1 SC in next 2 STS, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. (18 SC made)
Round 9: (1 SC in next 4 STS, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. (15 SC made)
Round 10: (1 SC in next ST, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. (10 SC made)
*Stuff the apple now.
Round 11: (1 SC in next 3 STS, 1 DEC next STS) Repeat around. Fasten off, leaving a tail of yarn for sewing. (8 SC made)
Using the tail of yarn left for sewing, thread the yarn needle and weave the apple closed by takin the yarn needle in and out of the FLO of Round 11. Secure the yarn tail through the apple and trim away the excess tail.
Stem & Leaves:
Cut one piece of green yarn and one piece of brown yarn approximately 4 inches long. Holding both pieces of the yarn together, make a knot at one end to secure the pieces together and trim away excess yarn behind knot. Next, thread the opposite ends of both pieces of yarn through the yarn needle. Insert the threaded needle through the center of the Magic Ring on the underside of the apple and pull the needle through the apple and out the center of the top of the apple. Gently pull until the knot is against the bottom or the apple/center of the magic ring and the ends of the yarn are out of the top (see photo below). Finally, using the end of your hook or yarn needle, gently push the knot through the center of the ring to hide. It will be secured inside of the apple.
Next, Trim the brown yarn down to make the stem (approximately 1 inch and will stand upright). Trim the green strand down until it is only visible at the base of the stem to create the leaves. Use the end of the yarn needle to separate the strands of green yarn.
Finishing:
Next, to create the dimple at the top of the apple, cut a long piece of yarn the same color as your apple. Thread the yarn needle and bring the needle up through the bottom of the apple base near Round 1, pulling the needle out near the top of the apple body, between Rounds 10 and 11. Insert the needle on the other side of the apple between the same rounds. Pull back through the apple, exiting just on the other side of Round 1 on the underside of the apple base. Take the two ends of yarn that are now at the bottom of the base and gently pull until the top of the apple dimples. Tie the two pieces together in a double knot to secure and trim away the excess yarn. The knot will be hidden on the underside of the completed apple.
