Body of Hat:
J Hook & Desired color of yarn. Note: CH 1 to turn at the end of each row will not count in ST count.
CH 27 (Tween) CH 31 (Adult Small) *ST count for Adult Small with be indicated in parenthesis throughout pattern
Row 1: 1 HDC SL ST in 2nd CH from Hook and in next 22 (26) CHS, 1 SC in last 4 CHS of Row. CH 1, turn.
Row 2: 1 SC in next 4 STS, 1 HDC BLO next 22 (26) STS. CH 1, turn.
Row 3: 1 HDC SL ST in the BLO in next 22 (26) CHS, 1 SC in last 4 CHS of Row. CH 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 until the body of your hat measures 18.25 inches wide for Tween and 19’ inches wide for Adult Small; end after a Row of HDC BLO stitches, leaving a long tail of yarn for sewing.
To finish the body of your hat, thread your finishing needle. Align the stitches from your foundation chain and the last Row of HDC BLO stitches. You want your hat to be facing wrong side out while you stitch closed. Take your needle through the BLO of the HDC stitch and through the Chain stitch on the opposite side; working back and forth. Once you reach the final 4 SC stitches of the brim of the hat you will take your finishing needle under both loops of the single crochet.

Next, thread your finishing needle with a long piece of yarn the same color as your hat. Continuing with your hat wrong side out, use a running stitch to go in and out of the stitches around the top of the hat. Once you reach the starting point pull tightly to close and weave in ends to secure.

Finally, turn your hat right-side out and add a pom-pom if you would like.
Finished! I hope you enjoy your new Molly Beanie.
