Cloud 9 Baby Washcloth Crochet Pattern

Cloud 9 Baby Washcloth Crochet Pattern

Hello everyone! I have been looking forward to sharing this quick project with you as I have been working on a few patterns lately as gifts for new babies. I love to give the people in my life handmade items and nearly every one of my patterns is designed to be given as a gift first. Sometimes I don't have time to make items that take more time such as blankets but still want to give something useful. This washcloth set certainly meets that need! You can make as many as you like, each washcloth takes approximately 40 minutes to make and can be paired with some baby care items to make a beautiful gift basket.  I was able to make 3 washcloths from each skein of yarn; each one measures approximately 5.5 inches squared.

You can find the printable version of this pattern available for purchase in my shop here

Note - I have provided a link below to the exact cotton yarn that I use to make this pattern. Please understand that I have no ability to know if/when a specific yarn may be discontinued or unavailable. Thank you!

Note 2- This pattern can be easily adjusted by making the foundation chain row any number of chain stitches in the desired width and adding on as many rows as needed to achieve the desired length. Simply make sure you end on an odd row before proceeding to the border instructions.

I Love This Cotton Yarn: Dove, Parchment, Rosy, Warm Blush, Khaki : Hobby Lobby

Wash Cloth:

Using the G Hook and desired color of yarn: *The CH 1 at the end of the row to turn will not count in the ST count.

CH 25

Row 1: 1 HDC in 3rd CH from hook and in each CH ST to the end of the row. CH 1 to turn. (23 HDC made)

Row 2: 1 BLO SC in each ST to the end of the row. CH 1 to turn. (23 BLO SC made)

Rows 3-19: Repeat Rows 1 and 2 through Row 19. Even rows will be a row of BLO SC STS and odd rows will be a row of HDC STS.  You will end with a row of HDC STS (Row 19). After Row 19 CH 1 and turn the dish cloth to begin working the border down the side and around the wash cloth.

Border:

The CH 1 at the beginning of Row 1 will not count in the ST count.

Round 1: 1 SC in each ST around the wash cloth, working 3 SC into each corner ST. When you reach the corner you started with join with a SL ST into the 1st SC. (No CH 1)

Round 2: 1 HDC SL ST in each SC around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
